Last Monday, Mia Eisendorf and Diana Plasencia visited The Westwood library to report on the author visit by Shannon and Dean Hale.
Shannon Hale has written several novels for young adults including The Princess Academy.
The couple has just released an exciting new series of graphic novels about the adventures of the action hero, Calamity Jack and a superhero based on Rapunzel.
This Rapunzel is, however, a very strong woman!
Better than the Olympics!
One of the highlights of the engaging discussion came when the Hales were asked how they came to their collaboration. The couple retold the story in an interpretive dance that ended with Dean holding Shannon aloft upside down with her feet waving over his head. They pulled off some challenging moves in a lyrical combination, but their prose is usually a bit more graceful.
